FLINT, Mich. – Call it a weeklong shoreline cruise. This summer, from June 17-26, hundreds of classic cars will cruise through the cities and towns that dot the beautiful Michigan shoreline to promote one of the Midwest’s best and fastest-growing car festivals, Back to the Bricks.

“The Back to the Bricks Michigan Mitten Promo Tour is our way of showing off a little bit,” said Al Hatch, who founded the event in Flint in 2005.

In 2010, the 5-day event attracted over 350,000 car enthusiasts and 35,000 classic cars to the Bricks of downtown Flint and to numerous cruise sites across the county. Back to the Bricks has been named among the top 20 car shows in the United States.

"The numbers don't lie -- people, young and old, really enjoy this event," Hatch said. "I can't think of a better place to be in the summertime than enjoying one of Michigan's great events."

Karen Borton, promotional committee co?chair, has been running the roads of Michigan all winter in preparation for what she believes will be quite a spectacle.

"There's just something unique about seeing so many classic cars, and car lovers, all together for one purpose," Borton said. "We think this event truly something special, and we want to see even more new faces on the Bricks this summer."

To participate in the tour, call 810-919-5078 or email to Karen Borton at usarosebud@aol.com or Aileen England, at aileen.m.england@juno.com. The cost is $35 for registration plus discounted accommodations.

The Back to the Bricks Cruise Weekend will take place Aug. 16-20, 2011, in downtown Flint. Visit BacktotheBricks.org for info.
