Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum featured on new episode of Chasing Classic Cars
Wayne Carini is at it again. Catch him on the newest episode of the hit show Chasing Classic Cars, “Big Brass Ones”, which makes its debut on Tuesday December 8th at 10:00pm Eastern time on Discovery’s Velocity Channel.
In this episode, Wayne travels to Napa, CA to evaluate a collection of cars including a 1911 Kissel Kar, a 1910 Buick Model 16, a 1914 Ford Model T Speedster and a 1915 Ford Model T C-Cab Delivery. The cars are later sold at the Bonhams Auction at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum on October 25th 2015.
Demo Days at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum
The Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum is home to Demo Days. Each Demo Day features cars from our collection, as well as guest cars from other collections, in a themed presentation and demonstration run. Using the expansive 3-acre parking lot behind the museum, you can see, hear and smell history come to life through these magnificent machines. Demo Days are held on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month. The program begins promptly at 12:00 noon outdoors in the back parking lot. In the event of inclement weather, the Demo Day will be held indoors. Please be sure to check our homepage for weather updates.
We begin each Demonstration Day with a brief lecture on each car’s importance and its place in history. Immediately after the lecture, each car is demonstrated outdoors in the parking lot in a controlled manner, weather permitting. After the demonstration runs are complete, we lower the ropes and allow guests to see each car up close and take pictures. Please check our website for any last-minute changes, before coming to see the event. To see thousands of photos of past Demo Days, please visit our Demo Days Photos page.
December 12th: Preservation Workshop with our 1964 Shelby Daytona Coupe
Join us December 12th for our first “Preservation Workshop”. This one-day symposium will focus on the preservation efforts and long term stewardship of a featured vehicle from the museum’s collection. Dr. Fred Simeone will host a presentation consisting of a lecture and a photo slideshow, while the car is displayed on the main stage.
The first car featured is our 1964 Shelby Daytona Coupe chassis number CSX2287. The life of CSX2287 is well-documented, dating back to when it was built at Shelby in 1963, all the way up through its life at the Simeone Museum. However, the public has never seen photographs from its preservation efforts, which were recently rediscovered in the Museum’s library. This collection consists of hundreds of amazing photos including before & after, hidden sections, rotisserie shots, individual components, close-ups of serial numbers, and exciting discoveries of previously unknown features.
This event will begin promptly at 12:00 in the Main Space at the museum. At the conclusion of the presentation, guests will see the car up close for photographs and inspection. Mark your calendars – this should be an awesome event! General Admission tickets are $12 per person. Simeone Museum members get in free.
Special note about tickets & seating:
We have received a great response to this event, and we are anticipating a large crowd in attendance. While we have an unlimited number of tickets available for sale, we do have a limited number of approximately 250 chairs. Once those are taken, standing room will be available for remaining guests. So be sure to get here early to get the best view!
