Carlisle, PA – Carlisle Auctions returns to the SUN ‘n FUN Expo Campus in Lakeland, Florida for its second Florida auction of the year (November 10-11), and as part of this year’s two-day classic and collector car offering, a pair of unique rides will be publicly made available for the first time. Carlisle Auctions is pleased to share that crossing the block on Saturday, November 11 will be a 2010 ASPT Superlite SLC and a 2015 ASPT Ultima GTR.

These unique lots come to Carlisle Auctions and Lakeland by way of the estate of Jerry Jackson, a car builder and drag racer who passed in 2020. Within automotive circles, Jackson was not only known for designing and engineering machinery for producing carbon fiber for carmakers like Lotus, but also for teaming with Dave Cottingham to build and race a Ford Popular that was known as the Purple Passion. His magic touch not only put it in the winner’s circle but cemented his legacy as a premier builder/designer.

Decades later, in 2013 while residing in Sarasota, Florida, Jackson, a member of the Café Races car club, decided to once again build a car in his garage, this time it was the aforementioned Superlite SL-C coupe. The coupe included a modern chassis, road racing heritage, and infused with state-of-the-art technology. The kit was purchased from Race Car Replicas (RCR) a company with a background in IndyCar racing with a General Motors engine program and supplying parts for Le Mans cars. When finished, Jackson had invested some 2,500 hours of labor into it.

It's possible that Jackson found inspiration in another kit prior to building the Superlite SL-C coupe, because he was also the owner of the 2010 Ultima GTR. Manufactured by Ultima Sports LTD in Hinkley Leicester in the UK, the Ultimate Sports LTA was also built on a tubular space frame chassis and bodied with a winged, lightweight fiberglass body. Under the hood can be found a 390-horsepower small-block Chevy racing engine displacing 377 cubic inches. The car weighs in at just 2,100 pounds and, like the SL-C, delivers breathtaking road performance.

“Being a member of Café Racers myself, I often got to see both of these magnificent cars in person,” noted Carlisle Events co-owner Bill Miller Jr. “Jerry was a real car guy as he knew how they should be built as well as how they should perform. With Jerry’s engineering skills, he knew exactly what he wanted in a car and supervised their construction,” added Miller Jr. “These are cars that turn heads wherever they go. Join us in Lakeland November 10-11, 2023 and you can own one of these very special cars.”

These two rides (both with AC and ready for the road), along with 300+ others will be part of the event that also includes trucks, muscle cars, pre-war classics, and even future collector cars. There are three great ways to bid as well, including in person at the SUN ‘n FUN Expo Campus, on the phone, or online by way of ProxiBid. The auction starts at 10:30 AM daily, with the popular All-Truck Hour taking place at 12:30 PM on Friday, November 10. Parking is free for all attendees, with spectator admission tickets just $10, payable in cash at the door. Complete auction details are available at CarlisleAuctions.com or by calling 717-960-6400.
