KISSIMMEE, Fla.: For us it is the first day of Mecum’s giant 2013 Kissimmee Auction, but the action actually started last Friday and will continue through to next Sunday the 27th!
Nearly 3,000 cars have been consigned making this the largest single collector-car auction event ever. Over 650,000 square feet of parking is covered by dozens of tents (that is nearly 15 acres). Huge amounts of audio (1600 watts), lights (over 800) and a huge staff are on hand. Starting today will be 32 hours of coverage airing from 1-9 PM (E.S.T.).
The weather couldn’t be better, the cars prettier or the auction more pumped up. We have already found several cars that we would love to have follow us home starting with a 1948 Kaiser Custom Sedan.
In addition to the television coverage, Mecum is streaming the entire auction live on the Internet (www.mecum.com), which makes you 70% sell-through, over $15 million already recorded expected to hit $20 million by the end of the day.
Stay tuned for what is sure to be one wild ride.
