Best in Show 1967 Lamborghini Miura P400SV owned by Mark Butters Fort Lauderdale Concours

Fort Lauderdale, FL – It wasn't just the superyachts along the Pier Sixty-Six Marina that were making a splash on Friday, 27 October – it was the classic cars featured at the 3rd Annual Fort Lauderdale Concours (FTLC), where cars and culture intersect. The cars were the stars and of the 35 vintage and exotic automobiles showcased, the 1967 Lamborghini Miura P400SV owned by Mark Butters, was the brightest of them all winning Best In Show.

Speed and sinuous lines makes this Lamborghini the highest expression of the “supercar” concept of its day. When released, it was the fastest production road car. Still sexy 56 years later, this Marcello Gandini designed piece of art is considered one of the most beautiful sports cars ever made.

The show’s presenting sponsor Aston Martin showcased their new models including the DBX 707 and the DB12 Coupe.

Reinvention is the name of the game at FTLC which has revamped the traditional concours model by creating a luxury lifestyle event that celebrates the automobile and its convergence with art, music, fashion and pop culture. Maria Jannace, CEO of FTLC and its sister concours The New York City Concours, has established a classic car show that is “exclusively inclusive” with a distinctive culture that attracts a younger and more diverse generation of classic car lovers.

In keeping with this mission, the Legacy, Spirit & Style Award was chosen by students from Miami’s Design and Architecture Senior High School. Ilya Volovik was thrilled to receive the honor for his 1968 Dodge Charger, an iconic American muscle car. The RPM Foundation Restorer's Award  went to Bob Oatman’s 1960 Chevrolet Corvette, restored by Paul Grasso. Fort Lauderdale Concours

The RPM Foundation also supports the acceleration of growth for the next generation of automotive enthusiasts through formal restoration and preservation training and mentorship. So it was fitting they presented the RPM Foundation Restorer's Award at the concours and Bob Oatman’s 1960 Chevrolet Corvette, restored by Paul Grasso, was a perfect choice. Owned by the same family for the first 57 years of its life, this car features the most sought after 270-horsepower engine, coupled with a four-speed manual transmission.

The People’s Choice Award wen to this 1980 Maserati Merak SS 2+2 Coupe from Frank Zevallos Fort Lauderdale Concours

Part of what makes FTLC so much fun is giving power to the people and seeing which of the dozens of sleek and sporty vehicles they choose to win the People’s Choice Award. Valuing the opinion of the attendees provides a unique perspective about what they want from the concours world and this year the 1980 Maserati Merak SS 2+2 Coupe from Frank Zevallos came out on top. As the epitome of Italian elegance and performance we can see why it edged out its stiff competition. Featuring a V6 engine delivering 220 horsepower, it's known for its striking,wedge-shaped design, showcasing Maserati's commitment to craftsmanship and style. The "SS" stands for "Super Sport," denoting the enhanced performance and handling of this model, making it an exhilarating car to drive.

Along with the cars were a bevy of cultural features Fort Lauderdale Concours

The cultural features of FTLC added an extra level of glamour to an already amazing event. Highlights included a hip collectible sneaker curation by Valid Miami, a sexy Zaddy fashion-mob sponsored by Hamilton Douglas Clothiers, a stylish art gallery from Las Olas Capital Arts, and electrifying live music from the Valerie Tyson Band.

A portion of the event proceeds will be donated to the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival (FLIFF), and the RPM Foundation which also had a presence at the event.
