DETROIT, Mich. _ The Concours d’Elegance of America is hosting an exhibition celebrating Ford Motor Company’s historic 1-2-3 finish at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, the world’s oldest active sports car race in endurance racing, held near the town of Le Mans, France. The exhibit, reimagining the 1966 Le Mans pit lane will showcase four historically significant Ford GT 40s: 1966 GT40 MK II owned by The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum; 1967 GT40 MK IV owned by Jim Glickenhaus; 1967 GT40 MK IV owned by The Henry Ford Museum; 1969 GT40 MK I owned by Chuck Ungurean.
While the Concours d’Elegance juried event is held on Sunday, July 31, the show has grown to three days — Friday, July 29 through Sunday, July 31.
With more than 300 vintage and classic automobiles and motorcycles coming from 31 states and countries, the Concours d’Elegance of America attracts 15,000 show day attendees and almost 3,000 special event attendees.
