Chryslers Come Together

Regardless of whether you like your Mopars racing down the quarter-mile or in a static display, Chrysler Classic Events has you covered.

Regardless of whether you like your Mopars racing down the quarter-mile or in a static display, Chrysler Classic Events has you covered.

During the fourth annual Curt George Memorial, to be held June 20-22 at Pittsburgh Raceway Park, fans of the pentastar can catch famous figures, judged and non-judged show cars and trucks and quarter-mile racing in a well-rounded event that also includes a swap meet, car corral and manufacturer’s midway.

Headlining the event is race car driver Ken Montgomery and his famous 1965 Plymouth Hemi Super Stock Belvedere. Montgomery bought the Belvedere, dubbed “Triple Nickel,” new and has been racing it ever since, despite its rarity and desirability as a factory lightweight with Coring glass and acid-dipped body components. Montgomery will heat up the track on June 21 when he goes head to head against Bob George, who will also be piloting a Hemi Belvedere. The racing action begins June 20 with time trials.

For show-goers, the fun also begins June 20 when the show field opens to all Mopars. The Mopar Alley fun field is a relaxed, non-competitive display area where car owners can display cars without the pressure of judging. For those Mopar owners who want their vehicles judged, competitive MCG Mopar World Finals judging will begin at 10 a.m. on June 21. Competitors will try to qualify by scoring 90 percent or higher, which will allow them to advance to the finals held at the Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio, Sept. 12-14. For owners of non-Mopar cars and trucks, the show field opens at 4 p.m. June 21, and they may participate in one of the area cruise-ins that evening.

Highlighting the event will be a special display of unrestored Mopars. This display will include Gerald Elam’s 1970 Plymouth AAR ‘Cuda with its original Vitamin C paint and several other untouched Mopars.

Whether you’re an owner or an admirer, Chrysler Classic Events welcomes all Mopar enthusiasts for a weekend of swap shopping, racing and drooling.
