ACD Automobile Museum debuting new exhibit

(AUBURN) – The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum will be reopening to the public on Sunday, June 14 and visitors will notice that a few things have changed, including an all new exhibit in the special interest gallery entitled “Out of Quarantine.”

The new exhibit features 17 automobiles from the museum’s private collection on display, together for the first time, and spanning over 80 years of automotive history. These vehicles cover a wide range of eras, makes, body styles, and more. See the elegant makes of the 1930s such as the Packard alongside the 1950s muscle cars like the 1956 Ford Thunderbird. Compare vehicles with groundbreaking designs like the Cord 810 and 812 with the 1933 Checker cab, which was a mainstay of the streets of Chicago. “We wanted to offer visitors something new and unique to see as they begin to get out of the house and enjoy the many local businesses that have been closed for the past several months.” said Marketing and Communications Manager, Walter Fisher.

Visitors will also notice that the museum store, the Duesy Shop, has been reorganized and completely stocked with new merchandise. “We are excited to welcome everyone back to the museum again. While it has been difficult to have our doors closed, it has given us the opportunity to reorganize, clean, and update the Duesy Shop.” Said Duesy Shop Manager, Teressa Sutton. An all new virtual store, viewable at www.acdamstore.com, has also been launched during the closure. Sutton continued, “Creating the new website has been fun and challenging at the same time. Both the store front and website will continually be updated with new items for car lovers from all walks of life.” The Duesy Shop is open seven days a week during museum business hours.

The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum, along with most cultural institutions across the country, has been closed since March 20 due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak.
