Just in time for Joe Bortz's birthday today, Minichamps sent the famous concept car collector this pre-production 1:18 mockup of his 1953 Buick Wildcat dream car.

Bortz received this mockup of the forthcoming model so that it could be edited to correct any inaccuracies in the design or features of the original, which rests in Bortz's garage, before the model goes into full-scale production.

These image show the model before Bortz's tweaks, but from what we see, the model is off to an excellent start. Since only one 1953 Wildcat exists, we're looking forward to finally getting our hands on an example of our own, even if we won't be able to squeeze behind its wheel.

The Wildcat is the second model by Minichamps of a concept car in the Bortz Collection. Earlier this year, a model of the recently restored 1955 LaSalle II roadster was released by Minichamps in 1:18 and 1:43 scale. (A preview was shared here on Old Cars Weekly.)

No release date has been given for the model, but we'll let you know when it hits shelves.

The pre-production sample of Minichamps' forthcoming 1:18 model of the 1953 Buick Wildcat. The details look spectacular.
