Dream car collector Joe Bortz shared this preview of a new 1:18 model of his recently restored 1955 LaSalle II Roadster concept car. The LaSalle II roadster, along with the 1955 Biscayne, LaSalle II Sedan and 1956 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham Town Car were among those concepts Bortz famously rescued from Warhoops salvage in 1989 (the story was covered in the Nov. 23, 1989, issue of Old Cars Weekly).
The model is being built by Minichamps as part of its American Dream Car Collection. The completed 1:18 model — and Bortz's restored full-size LaSalle II Roadster — will debut together in March 2013 at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. Bortz will be on hand signing models for those who purchase one for them self. Look for a 1:43 version of the LaSalle II Roadster to follow. (We hope there's 1953 Wildcat and 1955 Biscayne concept cars to follow!)
Since only one 1955 LaSalle II was built by General Motors, this will likely be your only opportunity to own a three-dimensional version of the concept car!
