Our cars can have the power to heal us from behind the wheel. They can also be agents to help others heal.
One such car tasked with helping the healing process is a 2002 Chevrolet Camaro coupe, a rare B4C police model said to be one of 13 built and only available to law enforcement. The Camaro is currently at auction to benefit the family of Fox Lake (Ill.) Police Lt. Joe Gliniewicz, who died of a gunshot wound while on duty Sept. 1.
Bidding on the no-reserve auction is live at eBay.com, and a direct link is available at volocars.com, said Brian Grams, museum director.
“The car drew almost $12,000 within minutes of the auction starting Friday,” Grams said. “By Monday, it had topped $20,000. We’re hoping for some great activity between now and Friday.”
“It is a highly collectible Z/28,” Grams said. “Along with the fact that it’s being sold for a great cause, it’s definitely investment-worthy. And the new graphics that Road Rage Designs added are awesome.”
The community continues to rally around the family of 52-year-old Gliniewicz as the investigation into his death continues. Gliniewicz left behind his wife of 26 years, Mel, and their four sons.
Anyone interested in viewing the car may do so at the museum, 27582 Volo Village Road, Volo. For other information, visit volocars.com or call 815-385-3644.
