Ypsilanti will host new Hudson car museum
The Hudson Essex Terraplane Historical Society announced an agreement with the Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Museum to establish the National Hudson Motor Car Company Museum in the old Miller Motors Dealership. Miller Motors was a Hudson dealership in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and sold cars for 84 years.
The dealership showroom will annually be set to feature one model year including a vehicle and décor for the period. The service area of the dealership, in addition to housing automobiles manufactured by the Hudson Motor Car Co., will house displays that parallel Hudson history with United States history during the first half of the 20th century.
“The museum will be alive, with displays and cars that will take many back to a time when Detroit was the king of automakers," Ed Souers, HMCC Museum manager, said. "The Hudson Motor Car Company and the Nash Car Company merged in May of 1954. It is fitting that we commemorate the 60th anniversary by establishing the National Hudson Motor Car Company Museum in Ypsilanti, near Hudson’s Detroit birthplace.”
Ron Bluhm, Ypsilanti Auto Motive Heritage Museum President stated, “Our partnership provides us an opportunity to enhance our Hudson collection and place our museum on the national stage with other major auto museums.”
The grand opening of the National HMCC Museum is scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 21, the same weekend as YAHM’s Orphan Car Show in Riverside Park.
