A new London-based TV program "Classic Car Rescue" will scour the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States to find "the most shameful rust buckets to return to their former glory." Once hosts Bernie Fineman and Mario Pacione restore those rot boxes, the car will be given away to a lucky viewer.

Central to each of the six episodes is the mission to follow up leads to find a dilapidated iconic car from an E-Type Jaguar to a Porsche 911 to a 1950s Cadillac. If those leads pan out, each will be restored to its former glory. The show will reveal the classic car’s impact on the world, how it transformed the image of a nation, in some cases turned around a country’s flagging economy, and created new methods of manufacturing.

"This show will see some of the world’s most beautiful cars lovingly restored and we are thrilled to give viewers the opportunity to win one of the vehicles featured in each episode,” said Andrew O'Connell, head of factual, news and current affairs at host TV station Channel 5.

The programme also gives viewers the once in a life time opportunity to win the car featured in each episode through an exclusive Channel 5 phone competition.

Expect some drama as the team works to meet deadlines to complete the restoration of each subject car.

"After some later-nighters, and last minute scramble for spare parts, the day of reckoning will arrive and the restored classic is unveiled," said producers. " Does it have the curves to die for? Can it reach its famed speed? Did the team find that elusive swiveling headlight? Is it everything they hoped it would be?"

“This is a truly turbo-charged car show like no other," said Dan Chambers, executive producer of the show. " Mario and Bernie are gripping characters - Bernie's regular angry outbursts are off the scale. And there’s heaps of fascinating take-out about the world’s most interesting cars.”

Cars featured in the series include:
* Jaguar E-Type
* Mini Cooper
* Cadillac
* Ford Mustang
* Porsche 911
* MGB Roadster
