Old Cars Reader Wheels: 1970 AMC Javelin Go-Pac
Old Cars features an often overlooked pony car, the 1970 AMC Javelin Go-Pac.
Jim Doskocil and his son Ronnie Knight tracked down this "pony" from AMC. I'll let Jim talk a bit about this sweet Javelin Go-Pac...
"This AMC muscle car that was considered a "Pony" car to compete with Ford Mustangs and Chevy Camaros is a joint venture between subscriber Jim Doskocil and his son Ronnie Knight of Lubbock, TX. They located the car in a suburb of Des Moines, IA. while researching a classic car website. It is a 1970 AMC Javelin Go-Pac with 390 V8, 4-barrel carb, Muncie 3-speed automatic transmission, and 3.54 gears. The "Go-package" included several "muscle" upgrades like front disk brakes and stiffer suspension with sway bars and trailer arms. It had only 32,000 original miles on it when purchased four years ago. In a 1970 "Pony" car competition the Javelin went from 0-60 in 6.4 seconds and did the quarter mile in 15.4 seconds. This Javelin is basically all original with only one re-paint and a new half-vinyl "Halo" top."
