Old Cars Reader Wheels: 1951 Chevrolet Styleline Special Sedan
Old Cars spotlights a reader’s 1951 Chevrolet Styleline Special Sedan
Ed Barrett is enjoying life in his ’51 Chevy. Who wouldn’t? This fine looking Styleline looks great inside and out. This is what Ed had to say about his Chevy…
"This is our '51 Chevy Styleline Special Sedan. We have owned it now for about 15 years. When we purchased it, it was an all original 22,000 mile car. We showed it and drove it in original condition for about 5 years before converting it to a street rod with a 350 SBC, 350 Turbo Transmission, all new suspension, wiring, gauges and just about everything else also new, other than the interior and exterior which we kept original. I got the original early 50's plaid vinyl seat covers off of eBay...they came out of an old Pontiac dealership that was closing; these were original "dealer installed" covers that they found on their back shelves in their original box. I paid $30.00 for them! We can now drive the car much further and at normal highway speeds. We enjoy it tremendously."
