Old Cars Reader Wheels: 1929 Ford Hot Rod

Old Cars spotlights a reader submitted 1929 Ford Hot Rod

Jerald L Mull sent us a few shots of his sweet ’29 Ford. Here is what he had to say about his hot rod…

"This is my 1929 Ford Roadster hot rod we call CHALLENGER. In the small Indie film Deuce of Sapdes, the owner CHALLENGED the hero to a big drag race. As near as we can tell the hot rod was built for El Mirage Dry Lake Racing in the mid-fifties and into the seventies. It is built on a boxed, pinched and bobbed '32 Ford frame. It has a filled '32 Ford grille shell, 2" chopped windshield, 264 louvers and a custom fabbed aluminum hood. At one time it surely had a modified flathead V8, but now it features a 1963 Chevy 283 V8 with tri-power carbs backed up by an aluminum Powerglide. Brakes are '48 Ford all around. The '48 Ford rearend has a vintage Halibrand Quickchange. Tires are 6.70x15 up front with 7.50x16's in the rear. That's my lovely girlfriend, Morgan Kari riding shotgun. It's a fun car that gets a lot of attention here on the streets of SoCal."
