Tupelo Auto Museum showcases late, great Chevys
Exhibit will feature Chevrolet vehicles from 1958 to the mid- to late 1960s
TUPELO, Miss. — The Tupelo Automobile Museum will feature a special exhibit, “Late, Great Chevys,” November 6-27. The exhibit will feature Chevrolet vehicles from 1958 to the mid to late 1960s. The exhibit will be displayed in addition to the museum’s regular collection of over 100 cars from the 1880s to the 2000s.
In the last few years, there has been more emphasis placed on this group of cars. Aftermarket parts providers have recognized these cars as being worthy of producing replacement parts. This heightened interest and activity among classic car owners for this era of Chevys is what made Tupelo Automobile Museum Curator Allen McDaniel want to do a special exhibit highlighting these vehicles.
“They represent a change in design from the boxier-styled earlier, classic Chevys to being longer and wider with a sleeker look and more creature comforts,” McDaniel said. “The late, great Chevys are becoming more and more prominent at car shows, cruise-ins and anytime a group of car enthusiasts gather.”
The Tupelo Automobile Museum is located off Highway 45 at the Main Street exit in Tupelo. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Special rates of $7.50 for adults and $5 for children ages 5 to 12 will be offered during this exhibit.
