The Wisconsin Region of the Studebaker Drivers Club (WRSDC) is planning a special day at IOLA ’14 with a meet on Saturday, July 12. A display of 30-50 Studebakers will assemble on the grassy area just west of the large “Four for All in ‘14” theme tent.

In addition to the cars on display, there will be a special presentation in the Teamed to Learn® Education Tent. Andy Beckman, book author and archivist from the Studebaker National Museum will be sharing two presentations. One will be a talk on the history of Studebaker and the other would be on the design and making of the 63-64 Avanti. Jim Pepper from the original Bonneville team will give a presentation about the first Avanti to break the 200 mph barrier at Bonneville.

A 1935 Studebaker Dictator 2A , owned by Jim Gilson of Green Bay, Wis., will be featured under the “Four for All in ‘14” theme tent. Studebaker started out manufacturing wagons and entered the automotive business in 1902 with electric vehicles and 1904 with gasoline vehicles. Gilson’s car is a culmination of 12 years of Jim learning the trades such as welding, auto body and painting, metal fabrication, machine shop, sand casting, mold making, and upholstery. All of the restoration was personally done by Jim at his home without any outside help.

The 42nd Iola Old Car Show and Swap Meet will be held July 10-13. Just a reminder, swap vendor spaces are still available for IOLA ’14.
