SEMA Show spotlights new products, special exhibits

The 2011 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show will be held Nov. 1-4 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The SEMA Show — a trade-only event not open to the general public — is the premier automotive specialty products trade event in the world. It draws the industry’s brightest minds and hottest products to one place, the Las Vegas Convention Center. In addition, the SEMA Show provides attendees with educational seminars, product demonstrations, special events, networking opportunities and more.

SEMA Show 2010 drew more than 50,000 domestic and international buyers. The displays are segmented into 12 sections, and a New Products Showcase featured nearly 1,500 newly introduced parts, tools and components.

Meguiar’s displays world’s top cars

One highlight includes top show cars from around the world on display. For more than 30 years, Meguiar’s (producer of Car Crazy TV and Meguiar’s Car Wax) has been actively building and supporting the car hobby all over the world. Out of thousands of car shows in over 90 countries, the owners of nine of the top show cars in the world accepted Meguiar’s invitation to display their cars at SEMA.

Some of the treasures that are set to be on display include a 1953 Ford Truck F-100 from Costa Rica, a 1981 Mk1 VW Golf from the U.K., a 1939 Lincoln-Zephyr Custom from Mexico, a 2000 Toyota Celica from China, and a 1978 XC GS Ford Falcon hardtop from Australia.

Before making their way to the SEMA Show, the cars will stop at the famed Marconi Automotive Museum in Tustin, Calif., for private showings to museum visitors during October.

Knudson 'Vette to park at Mid America Motorworks booth

A 1964 Styling Corvette once owned by Chevrolet General Manager Semon E. “Bunkie” Knudson will be featured by Mid America Motorworks in Booth 24297 at this year’s SEMA Show. The fully restored Corvette provides SEMA attendees and exhibitors with a look at GM’s history. It is also an example of the interior products available from Performance Choice, Mid America Motorworks’ manufacturing division.

“In a sea of Mustangs and Camaros, you seldom find a classic Corvette in this condition at SEMA,” said Mike Yager, Mid America Motorworks founder. “This Corvette highlights the custom craftsmanship available at Performance Choice and gives enthusiasts a glimpse at GM’s corporate vision for the future at that time.”

The 1964 Corvette was built specifically for Knudson with a variety of custom features, including custom Cadillac Fire Frost Blue paint over a specially prepared body surface. The car still retains the original 327-cid/365-hp engine and all of the custom parts that were added in the Styling and Engineering departments.

The styling Corvette permanently resides at the MY Garage Museum and Retail Store on Mid America Motorworks’ corporate campus in Effingham, Ill., as part of the Yager family collection.
