What a ride it was today it was in Scottsdale as the auction action continues at four different events. Silver is reportedly having one of his best years ever at their Ft. McDowell location and while the majority of the vehicles at this sale are under the $50,000 level, the enthusiasm is worth a million.
Gooding & Co. wrapped up its sale today with the top sale going to a 1959 Porsche RSK with a hammer bid of $2,850,000 followed closely by a 1957 Maserati 150 GT Spider at $2,800,000 and a 1933 Duesenberg Model J/Murphy disappearing top convertible at $2,450,000. Overall Gooding posted 101 sales out of 104 lots offered for a very strong $24,528,350 for today’s session.
Barrett-Jackson was busy raising nearly $1 million for charity today, but was knocking down a number of world records along the way such as a sharp 1970 Oldsmobile 442/W30 convertible hammered sold at $300,000!
Just down the street Russo & Steele was finding success in their unique arena-style auction, such as an original 1969 Chevrole Camaro prepped by Yenko and called sold with a bid of $235,000.
Two important announcements were made this evening. Barrett-Jackson officially announced they would not be returning to Orange County, Calif., but would be the main auction for Hot August Nights in Reno, Nevada. Russo and Steele announced that this coming June, they would be coming to Orange County, Calif., and setting up their tents in Newport Beach, Calif., plus they would be holding a three-day auction event in Las Vegas, Nev., this coming September!
Busy-busy-busy!
