Savoy Automobile Museum opens temporary exhibit, ‘Streamlined Elegance – The Tatra Tale’

“Streamlined Elegance – The Tatra Tale” will run at the Savoy Automobile Museum August 29 through January 7, 2024.

CARTERSVILLE, GA - Savoy Automobile Museum in Carterville, GA  announced its newest automotive exhibit, opening on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, and on display until Sunday, January 7, 2024, Streamlined Elegance - The Tatra Tale. A collaborative exhibit with Lane Motor Museum in Nashville, TN, showcasing the storied marque of Tatra – a Czech vehicle manufacturer founded in 1850. Located in Czechoslovakia, near the Tatra Mountains, Tatra produced its first automobile in 1897. Due to its geographical location, the company was uninfluenced by other automobile manufacturers, however, this was not a handicap. Primarily, under the guidance of their chief engineer Hans Ledwinka, the company reached highly sophisticated levels in aerodynamic design and engineering. Their impact can be seen in the Volkswagen Beetle and Porsche.

In conjunction with the exhibit, join the Savoy on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm for Tatra Evolution, a discussion with Derek E. Moore, curator of collections for the Lane Motor Museum, highlighting the Tatra company, their design changes through the years, and the vehicles on loan for Streamlined Elegance – The Tatra Tale exhibit. The museum will remain open until 9:00 pm on September 29 so that guests can enjoy the exhibits as well as the evening program. Admission to the program is included with regular museum admission.

Savoy Automobile Museum is open to the public Tuesday – Sunday, from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. Admission to the museum is complimentary for members.
