Monterey Car Week Kick-Off

Laguna Seca kicks off Monterey Classic Car Week with a classic car show in downtown Monterey. A lineup of 30 classic race cars with fans able to meet the drivers while enjoying music and giveaways.
Monterey Pre-Reunion

A chance to see more than 300 race cars competing for two full days prior to the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.
The Porsche Monterey Classic

Concours on the Avenue

Carmel-by-the-Sea’s famous Ocean Avenue gets closed off to traffic and downtown fills up with collector cars and related events.
Classic Motorsports Monterey Kickoff Cruise-In
WHEN: Aug. 10, 3-7 p.m.
LOCATION: Lighthouse Avenue in Pacific Grove
Open to the public and anyone with a classic car who enjoys fine wines, food and music. Admission is free.
Pebble Beach Motoring Classic
WHEN: Aug. 11, 4:30 p.m.
LOCATION: Casa Palmero at Pebble Beach (arrival)
A road trip for enthusiasts with elegant automobiles. Cars will gather Monday in Kirkland, Wash., take to the road Tuesday, then arrive in Pebble Beach Wednesday.
The Little Car Show

This event puts the spotlight on micro and mini cars with no greater than 1601cc displacement engines or electric-powered vehicles.
McCall’s Motorworks Revival

3,000 VIP guests experience culinary delights while strolling the array of rare vintage race cars, motorcycles and aircraft.
Prancing Ponies Car Show

Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance

The traditional tour traces portions of the original 17 Mile Drive, traverses nearby mountains and valleys, and pauses in Carmel-by-the-Sea at 11:30. The tour is open to all entrants of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion

Ferrari Owners Club Gathering

LOCATION: The Barnyard Shopping Village
A display of vintage and new Ferrari automobiles plus food and wine tasting from various Monterey County wineries.
Legends of the Autobahn
WHEN: Aug. 14, 1 a.m.–3 p.m.
LOCATION: Carmel Valley Village
The event moves to a new location this year. Hosted by the BMW Car Club of America, the Mercedes-Benz Club of America and the Audi Club of America, the concours event offers both corral and judged areas. Admission is free.
Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance
WHEN: Aug. 15, 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
LOCATION: The Lodge at Pebble Beach
Automobiles and motorcycles are judged for their historical accuracy, their technical merit and their style—and the best garner reward and recognition. General admission tickets are $375 on concours Sunday.

The auctions and what to look for
After a year off due to the pandemic, Monterey Auto Week will again bring out high-profile collectors and many elite cars as the top nation-wide auction houses assemble for one of the biggest weeks in the car hobby. Monterey annually serves as a high-profile barometer of what’s hot among collector car buyers during the same week as the famed Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
Following is a rundown of those auction houses that will be conducting sales on the Monterey Peninsula in August, and some of the top cars up for bids.
RM Sotheby’s: Aug. 13-14
RM Sotheby’s will offer another loaded lineup at its flagship Monterey Sale at the Monterey Conference Center. Among the highlights will be the Larry Fox Collection of 11 supercars that will be offered at no reserve. Among the cars in the Fox Collection are a 2008 Bugatti Veyron 16.4; 2015 Ferrari La Ferrari; 2003 Ferrari Enzo; a 2015 Porsche 918 ‘Weissach’ Spyder; and a 2006 Ford GT.
Other highlight lots of the sale will include:
— A historic 1958 Ferrari 250 GT LWB Berlinetta “Tour de France” by Scaglietti;
— A pair of former 24 Hours of Le Mans racers: a 1981 Ferrari 512 BB/LM and 1983 Porsche 956 Group C;
— 1935 Duesenberg Model J “Sweep Panel” dual-cowl phaeton by LaGrande;
— 1930 Cadillac V-16 convertible sedan by Murphy.

Mecum Auctions: Aug. 12-14
Mecum Auctions plans to serve up more than 600 vehicles at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa/Del Monte Golf Course. Gates open daily at 8 a.m. with bidding on vehicles starting at 10 a.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $20 in advance and $30 at the gate.
An impressive list of consignments will roll across the block, including vehicles from Big Al’s Collection, The Jim Zanardi Collection, The Don Wallace Collection and The Pacific Northwest Collection.

Russo and Steele: Aug. 11-13
Russo and Steele will return to Monterey for its annual sale in downtown Monterey. A wide variety of European machines, exotics and high-end American muscle machines will be on the menu.
Wednesday is preview day for credentialed bidders and consignors with gates open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday. A public preview will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the auction commencing at 5 p.m. daily. General admission is $30 each day. Gooding & Co. will offer an array of blue-chip vehicles, including a powerhouse group of high-profile race cars, at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center. Preview sessions will be held Wednesday through Saturday with bidding beginning Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at noon.
