Legendary rocker Slash auctions his ’66 Stingray
Corvette will be auctioned off for charity on March 26
Many people have speculated over the years what Slash, the former Guns N' Roses guitarist, would look like without all that hair. One way to catch a glimpse might have been to steal a glance at him driving down Sunset, windows down in his 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Sports Coupe.
What else would you expect this riff lord who is one of the greatest guitarists in the world to drive?
Nothing says hard core rock-n-roll like classic American muscle. Harley Earl introduced the world to Chevrolet's most iconic styling of the Corvette with his design, the Stingray, in 1963. Corvettes have always been sexy and this year's model was no exception with its power bulge hood that hints at the big block engine that lurks beneath.
Slash's Black '66 is equipped with a big block 427 cubic inch V-8 engine with 435 horsepower, 4-speed manual transmission, power steering, power brakes with 4-wheel disc brakes, Holley 4-barrell carburetor, egg crate grille, air conditioning and stock, spinner delete Stingray wheels. The car is all original. Slash purchased this highly coveted automobile in the 1980s during the height of Guns 'n Roses popularity. VIN #: 194376S105155.
The Corvette is set to go up on the auction block on March 26, 2011, by world renowned entertainment memorabilia auction house Juliens Auctions in Beverly Hills.
