Hard to believe that this the 7th day of the 10-day-long Mecum Kissimmee Auction here in Florida. The weather continues to be outstanding and really compliments the 2700+ cars here at the sale. For the next couple of days, the real stars of the sale are expected to cross the block. While there are some super examples of muscle, classic and just pure collectibles, we are amazed by some of the more unusual vehicles seen at this sale.
Among the top of our list, a 1966 Ford Mustang that was a knock-down export car assembled in Mexico featuring it very unique ID number, a 200 kilometer speedo and an “experimental” fold-back sunroof.
We also found a sharp 1974 Volkswagen Thing that we would really take back home, if we had any money left over from some of the best auction-food we have seen.
There is a lot of anticipation about this evening’s official announcement related to Mecum Auctions sponsorship of Indy driver Auriol Servia for the 2013 and 2014 seasons. His race car is on display, hoisted high in the air over where the cars coming in for auction drive.
Dana Mecum has had a lot of goals, and with Kissimmee 2013, he had reached at least two of those with the largest collector car auction ever staged, and sponsorship of a very promising Indianapolis entry.
