Green Bay World of Wheels Moved to March

The 2008 Green Bay, Wis., World of Wheels show will be held earlier this year than in the past.

After previously holding the show in early April, show promoters are starting the season sooner and expecting a great turnout with March 7-9, 2008 dates.

Geared to both collectors and hard-core enthusiasts, the 2007 Green Bay venue featured many classic car attractions, like Zane Zander’s replica of the Corvette “Nomad.” Doc’s Classic Car & Cycle Museum brought a restored MG-TD roadster and a numbers-matching Hemi ’Cuda worth more than $500,000. Also seen was a real-life version of “Lightning McQueen” from the “Cars” movie, which was built by Old Cars Weekly how-to book author Eddie Paul.

This will be the 28th year for the Green Bay World of Wheels, which fills the Shopko Hall at Brown County Arena. “This show may not be our biggest World of Wheels,” said show manager Bob Ashton, “but, I’m excited about the wide variety of cars and Green Bay is always one show that is a lot of fun to see.”

One car that is sure to be a favorite his year is the beautiful 1932 Ford owned by Scott and Marion Jobb of Chicago. The gorgeous red “Vicki” was one of the International Show Car Association’s Top Ten finalists last year, and the Jobbs’ preparations for the 2008 circuit have the car looking better than ever.

Another standout car will be a beautiful 1956 Chevy custom shown by Jim Hubbell of Fond du Lac. This mint green and black “Classic Chevy” is the epitome of what the ISCA is all about. Its quality of workmanship is unsurpassed.

Green Bay visitors can expect to see rods, Resto-Mods, racing cars, restored classics and a variety of motorcycles. “This show has something for everyone,” said Ashton. A Pinstriper’s Charity Panel Jam and Auction will be held and all proceeds will go to Milwaukee Children’s Hospital. “All of the stripers donate their time and talents to make this happen,” said Show Chairman Ken Juza.

This year, another Paul creation — the real-life “Tow-Mater” tow truck from the “Cars” movie, is sure to put a smile on many faces, young and old. It is based on a 1978 Chevy “Big Dooley” — a very popular pickup in Wisconsin.
