Record prices: Lambrecht Chevrolet sale living up to hype
Living up to its hype, bidding started strong in the Lambecht Chevrolet collection auction in Pierce, Nebraska.
PIERCE, Neb. - Bidding started strong in the Lambecht Chevrolet collection auction in Nebraska today. VanDerBrink Auctions, with assistance from Proxibid, started off selling NOS Chevy parts higher than market value. Hub cap sets sold for $400 and other ridiculous prices were paid.
"Lambrecht" yard sticks sold for $200+ plus each before they were bundled into sets of five, then selling for $400 or more a set. It set the stage for the record car and truck prices set by vehicles stored inside by Ray Lambrecht.
First off was the top seller thus far - the 1958 Chevrolet Cameo pickup with 1.3 miles and a dented roof, which sold for $145,000. Next up, a 1958 Chevrolet Apache stepside truck with 5 miles sold for $85,000. Then the '78 Corvette pace car with 4 miles sold for $80,000.
"Late Great Chevy" Impalas also did exceptionally well: a '63 impala two-door hardtop with 11 miles and a v-8 automatic sold for $97,500; followed by a '64 Impala two-door hardtop with 4 miles and a v-8 3-speed manual selling for $75,000; and a 1965 Impala two-door hardtop with 396-V8 automatic and 12 miles sold for $72,500.
Corvairs set records when two 1963 Monza coupes with 17 miles each sold for $42,000 and $40,000.
The outdoor-stored cars that were never sold went for more-reasonable prices. The five never-sold 1959 Chevrolet four-doors that were stored outside for a period went for $11,000-$19,000 each.
Few cars went for below auction prices. Watch the History Channel tonight for highlights. (Check your local listings for times.) Old Cars Weekly will also continue its coverage here and on Facebook.
