Unrestored, original examples with documented low miles was the formula that led to huge smiles from the buyers, the sellers and the Auctions America LLC staff at the Raleigh Classic, held Dec. 7 and 8 at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds.

A bevy of low mileage, all original collector cars from the private collection of Glenn Boyd, Henderson, N.C., highlighted the continued success of sales in this unique niche of the collector car market.

Typical of the many successful transactions during this auction was this 1948 Cadillac Series 62 Sedanette (pictured), with 42,000 miles that sold right on the estimates for $50,000.

Many of the cars had such low mileage, they had to be considered NOS cars. One lucky buyer purchased an immaculate 1976 Mercury Monarch with 3700 miles on the odometer for $3,5000.

The surprise high bid of the sale was a 1958 Imperial Crown four door hardtop that doubled the estimates by hammering for $95,000 including buyer's premium.

Look for a complete listing of the cars sold in an upcoming issue of Old CarsWeekly.

The next Raleigh Classic is scheduled for the third week in June 2013.
