Noted automotive artist Robert Carter will sell five works, including a new painting of the 1924 AAA Champion Jimmy Murphy driving a Miller 91, at Auction America's Santa Monica auction June 25-26.
Carter will offer five large 48” x 72”oil on canvas paintings at this auction.
The painting of Jimmy Murphy shows him driving the legendary front-wheel drive twin-cam straight 8 Miller 91.Murphy was the dominant American driver in the early 1920s, when most race tracks were wooden. He won the French Grand Prix at Le Mans in 1921, and the Indianapolis race in 1922 in a Deusenberg.
