Automobile Gallery & Event Center founder William ‘Red’ Lewis has passed away

William “Red” Lewis, touchless carwash innovator and Automobile Gallery & Event Center founder, has passed away.

Lewis passed away at the age of 78 on January 7th.

William "Red" Lewis and Charlie Lieb teamed up with New Zealander engineer, Allen Jones to bring a touchless carwash system to the market in the 1980s. It is a safe bet you have benefitted from their system while getting your car washed. The company was named PDQ Manufacturing. In 1998 Lewis and his partners sold the company. Lewis went onto form R. Lewis Technologies which still produces carwash components today.

Lewis also had a passion for classic cars and a devotion to the Green Bay area community. That passion and love of community pushed him to found the Automobile Gallery & Events Center located in Green Bay, Wis. The gallery is home to a multitude of historic automobiles as well as ample space for events amongst the classic iron.
