Sale in Morris to include many Ford Model A car and truck models,
many Model A and other Ford parts
The Ford Model A cars and trucks, and the seemingly endless amount of spare parts for “Henry’s Lady” and other antique cars in the estate of Eddie and Beatrice Hessom of Morris, Oklahoma, will be offered for action Sept. 27 (9/27) beginning at 9:27 a.m. Chupps Auction Co. is hosting the sale.
The Hessom family clearly loved their Model A Fords, but the docket of items to be offered in the September sale shows their affinity for all Fords, and even a misfit Chevrolet or stray Jeep product. Few of the vehicles appear to be in show or even driver-condition, but there is plenty to appeal to treasure hunters as varied as the conditions of the vehicles on offer. The Hessoms had parts stored in vehicles left inside and outside, with more parts hanging in the rafters and from the walls of the buildings in which the vehicles were kept. Many of the complete Model A car and truck vehicles were stored inside and appear to be good drivers or restoration projects. There are also several Model A-era bodies that were stored outside and would be good foundations for more ambitious restorations — or hot rod projects. In addition to the late 1920 and early 1930 Ford bodies, there are many 1950s and a few later American cars in what appears to be the Hessoms' own little private salvage yard.
The auction also includes number of signs and other pieces of automobilia/petroliana, some of which appear in photos on the auction company’s website. A Wolf’s Head Motor Oil Co. sign appears to be the most photogenic, but there are several other interesting antique items hiding within the images, such as a gas pumps, Coca-Cola and Pepsi coolers, scales, gas globe, vintage license plates and old toys, many car-related.
Auctioneers intend to run two to three rings during the ambitious one-day-only sale, with loading continuing clear to Sept. 28. Expect to burn the midnight oil, if you’ll be attending the sale.
