The 30th Anniversary New London to New Brighton Antique Car Run will be held Saturday, Aug. 13, with pre-tours in the New London area Aug. 9-12.
Spectators will see more than 70 veteran cars from 1908 and earlier and one- and two-cylinder cars through 1915. They will be touring over 120 miles and recreating the prestigious London to Brighton Commemorative Run held annually in England
This year promises some special vehicles to pique the interest of old car enthusiasts.
- Four Stanley Steamers will be part of the tour. This group includes a 1903 Stanley Steamer Stick Seat Runabout, only one of five known to exist.
- Four Franklins, and one example each of: Stevens-Duryeas, Columbia, Rambler, De Dion Bouton, Sears, Moon, Autocar and Le Zebre.
The tour will begin on Saturday, August 13 at 7 a.m. from New London and proceed through 5 rest stops before ending in New Brighton at Long Lake Regional Park, 1500 Old Hwy 8 NW. The finish is from 3 to 6:30 p.m. and is part of the city’s Stockyard Days festival.
Approximate times for arrival at Rest Stops: Trinity Lutheran Church-Grove City: 8:30 a.m., Central Park-Litchfield: 9:30 a.m., Main Street-Kingston: 10:30 a.m., Buffalo High School-Buffalo: stay until 1 p.m., Becker Park-Crystal (new location): 2:30 pm.
