Milwaukee, Wis.– Colin Comer, noted author, collector and collector car authority, has been named chief judge for the Milwaukee Concours d’Elegance. Comer succeeds John Ling who has been named chief judge emeritus. Ling served as chief judge since the inception of the event in 2005.

Comer brings many years of concours d’elegance experience to his new position. He has not only restored, prepared and exhibited cars at the highest level in many concours events but also has served as judge at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, and, for the past nine years, at the Milwaukee Concours event, where he served as assistant chief judge for Ling in 2015.

Comer is the author of five best-selling and critically acclaimed books on collector cars as well as a contributing editor for Road & Track Magazine, editor at large for Sports Car Market and American Car Collector magazines, a senior writer for Vintage Motorsports magazine, among others.

In 2012 Autoweek named Comer as an automotive industry “Mover and Shaker” for his contributions to the collector car world, and he was recently named the Vintage Sports Car Driver’s Association’s 2015 “Driver of the Year.”

“We are delighted to have Colin head up the judging of our event and lead our panel of judges. His knowledge is beyond reproach and his enthusiasm is contagious,” said Gary Messing, president – The Masterpiece Ltd. “We greatly appreciate Colin’s willingness to take on this important leadership role and thank John for his 10 years of exemplary service.”

“I am honored to follow in my friend John Ling’s footsteps and continue to elevate the selection and judging standards of the Milwaukee Concours d’Elegance to properly celebrate the beauty and significance of the world’s finest automobiles,” said Comer. “I’m a Milwaukee native so it also brings me great pride to be a part of this world-class concours event in my hometown.”

The 2016 Milwaukee Concours d’Elegance, Aug. 28, 2016, will feature vehicles specially selected for their rarity, uniqueness and style, according to Carl and Carrol Jensen, co-chairs of the Concours Committee. Vehicles featuring V12 engines will be among those celebrated in 2016.

A highly knowledgeable team of judges and honored guests, selected by Comer, will judge the vehicles in a variety of classes on the show field in Veterans Park on Milwaukee’s lakefront.

The Concours Committee is currently seeking appropriate applicants for the concours competition. View the guidelines and complete the online application here.

The Milwaukee Concours d’Elegance is organized by The Masterpiece Ltd., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organized and operated exclusively to support other public charities including but not limited to those operating in southeastern Wisconsin which provide medical and social service care and relief to underprivileged children and families through various motor vehicle-related fundraising events.
